Master Tailor

THOMAS WONG

FOUNDER & CHIEF TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Picking up the craft of tailoring at the tender age of 16 some 6 decades ago, Thomas Wong is today widely regarded as the preeminent Master Tailor in Singapore. Raising through the ranks of Apprentice to Master, Mr Thomas Wong now undertakes multiple roles nurturing Next Generation Tailors.

A Fashion Design & Textiles lecturer at LASALLE College of the Arts since 2010, Thomas Wong founded the Menswear specialty track. He is also the Mentor & Chief Technical Director at The Prestigious and the Thomas Wong Bespoke Group.

RORY DUFFY TECHNICAL DIRECTOR & MENTOR

  1. Teacher . Maker . Master . Coat Maker and Master at Savile Row House Henry Poole, Rory Duffy served as sole apprentice to esteemed tailor Paul Freason for over two and a half years leading to Rory clinching the first prize of the Savile Row’s Golden Shears award which affirmed his superior standing among tailoring students and apprentices throughout the United Kingdom. In November 2009, Rory became the youngest Master at Henry Poole when he undertook an apprentice of his own before emigrating to New York where he served on the faculty at Pearsons School of Fashion.

Rory partners as Mentor & Co-technical Director at The Prestigious and spends his time between Singapore and the United Kingdom

LEAD TAILOR

A Civil Engineer by training, Marcus adopts the same calculated, rational thinking deployed behind building design and construction towards the development of bespoke apparel with an understanding of the structure of the physical body and intimate knowledge about fabric characteristics and pattern drafting. Marcus constantly enhances his bespoke drafting skill sets through research, innovation and practice.

As a lead tailor, Marcus takes overall charge for tailoring operations and quality control.

Constantly seeking inspiration to create brand new looks for customers, Yehua Gong is one who never shies away from experimenting with patterns, colours and fits. With her vast work experience in both Shanghai and Singapore, Yehua has gained numerous, fresh perspectives to her vision and ideas towards innovating new creations.

JUNIOR TAILOR & DISCIPLE B.A (Hons) in Fashion Design & Textiles Studies, Goldsmith University (UK)

Recently joining the ranks of the Junior Tailors, Adeline has a grounded understanding of tailoring developed through her stints at, amongst others, London-based label, Jonathan Saunders. She seeks to break boundaries, and marry forward-looking fashion, with traditional tailoring techniques. Prior to joining The Prestigious, Adeline designed a collection for retail at TANGS, which was met with commercial success.

SHERYL YEO

APPRENTICE B.A. in Business Marketing, RMIT University (AUS), Certificate in Fashion Design, NAFA

A marketing genius within mens fashion, Sheryl's interest towards menswear and androgynous fashion fueled her to undertake a Fashion certification at NAFA in 2015 before trying for the Apprenticeship program for which she was admitted on the strength of her talents, potential, passion and determination.

Sheryl is The Prestigious's first mid-career Apprentice admitted without the established academic grounding.

CRAFTSMEN

One of the more senior tailors in The Prestigious, Xue Hua started the art of tailoring since the tender age of 15. Having worked under our Lead Tailor over the last five years, Xue Hua today manages our production workshop at Yishun where she further serves as trainer and guide to new apprentices and imparts the skills and qualities crucial of every The Prestigious Bespoke commission.
